Academic School Year

Traditionally, the academic year at Liberty International School has begun in April and finished in March.  This follows the Japanese school calendar.  However, from April 2021, we will be transitioning to an academic year that begins in September.  Therefore, the 2021-2022 school year starts in April 2021 but finishes in June 2022.  Two main reasons for this change are listed below:

 1. A September start date will make it easier for many students coming from abroad to join the school year from the beginning.

2. Japan as a whole is working on plans to switch to a September start date.

More details about the school calendar can be seen under the News & Events => Calendar tab.  Nevertheless, the following is an overview of the 2021-2022 school year.

NOTE: In a normal academic year, students will have at least 180 school contact days dedicated to study.

NOTE: If school is closed on a national holiday, daycare is not available.
